Nurture Your Central Nervous System with Primitive Movements

Blomberg Rhythmic Movement

Blomberg Rhythmic Movement  is a neuro-developmental program of gentle, rocking movements and isometric pressure that is proven to integrate our active primitive reflexes. Primitive reflexes are active in all infants, but as we progress through the stages of neurological development these reflexes become integrated.

Primitive reflexes are the foundation for cognitive, emotional, and physical development.

The majority of children and adults still have at least one active primitive reflex. Reflexes can become reactivated after experiencing trauma, surgery, food intolerance, environmental or emotional stress, even the everyday or long term stress that affects us all can trigger or reactivate a reflex.  These active reflexes cause incoherent communication in the body!

Why to Incorporate Rhythmic Movement Training?

Doing these simple movements creates new neural pathways in the brain, just as it does in the infants who integrate them instinctively. By making new neural connections, we can transform the way we process emotions, the way we think, and the way we move.

These movements are a gentle, natural, holistic alternative to traditional medical diagnosis and treatment.  They are simple, easy to implement, effective, non-invasive, empowering, non-drug approach designed to enhance neurological systems that are causing learning, behavioral, cognitive, motor, emotional or speech challenges, or eating and sleep difficulties.

Who Can Benefit From learning these Movements?

Anyone with Nervous System Dysregulation!  Your body can only heal when it feels SAFE & communicates correctly! This safety is greatly dictated by the state of our nervous system. We need to retrain your brain to get into the parasympathetic nervous system state to send the correct inputs to heal!

You may remember from high school biology class that the autonomic nervous system is a network of nerves responsible for bodily functions we need to survive. It connects the brain to internal organs that allow for essential processes such as digestion, heart rate, glandular secretion (what produces sweat and saliva), and pupillary response (the pupil's response to light).

The autonomic nervous system is divided into two sections: the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system. The sympathetic nervous system, sometimes called the "fight or flight" system, is best known for its role in responding to stressful or scary situations. Conversely, the parasympathetic nervous system, known as the "rest and digest" system, is responsible for helping people feel safe and relaxed by controlling breathing, lowering heart rate, and regulating digestion.

A dysregulated nervous system is defined as an imbalance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems. A dysregulated nervous system presents psychological, physical, or cognitive malfunctioning and imbalance which may inhibit normal functioning and the capacity to regulate responses. In other words, when your nervous system is dysregulated, so is your normal functioning and ability to regulate responses.

What Conditions Can BRMT Support?

As primitive reflexes are the basis for all cognitive, emotional, and physical development, they can be used to suppport a wide array of symptoms in the following conditions/diagnosis. These include but are not limited to:

  • Learning delays
  • Motorskills challenges
  • Muscle pain
  • Muscle weakness/improper muscle tone
  • Reading difficulty
  • Scoliosis
  • Sensory processing disorders
  • Shyness/phobias/anxiety
  • Sleep
  • Sports performance
  • Speech and language challenges
  • Strabismus and Phorias
  • Vision challenges
  • ADD/ADHD
  • Angry outbursts/Rage
  • Autism
  • Balance problems
  • Behavior challenges
  • Cerebral Palsy/Stroke
  • Cognitive delays
  • Coordination issues
  • Digestive issue
  • Dyslexia
  • Depression
  • Emotional regulation challenges
  • Focus/ concentration
  • Joint pain/Osteoarthritis

Each reflex is associated with more than one developmental milestone. Learning to integrate those which remain unintegrated can make a difference in several areas of one person's life.

Your nervous system effects every system in your body! Start nurturing this important part of you now!

Are You Ready to Bring Your Body into a Healing State?

The nervous system plays an important role in maintaining overall health and well-being. It’s responsible for transmitting signals between different parts of the body, and is essential for the optimal functioning of various bodily functions and processes, such as movement, digestion, repair, cellular function, pain levels and cognition.

When the nervous system is regulated or in balance, it’s able to promote a state of calmness and relaxation, allowing the body to efficiently respond to stressors and maintain balance!

If your stuck in a stressed fight or flight nervous system state, learning how to integrate these primitive reflexes can help move you into the rest & heal state!
